Beijing, September 11, 2026 — The 11th Sino-French Medical Forum (中法医学日) concluded successfully at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing, bringing together more than 200 healthcare leaders, policymakers, and industry representatives from France and China. The forum reaffirmed its role as the principal strategic platform for dialogue on medical innovation and public health between the two countries.
The event opened with remarks from Bertrand Lortholary, French Ambassador to China, who underscored the enduring depth of the Franco-Chinese healthcare relationship and the shared priorities that continue to shape it.
Held under the theme "Health and Innovation: Addressing Future Challenges Together" ("健康与创新：携手应对未来挑战，共创发展机遇"), the forum was jointly organized by the Social Affairs and Health Department of the French Embassy in China, represented by Floriane Bougeard; Business France, represented by Alexandre Ea; and the French Healthcare Alliance China, represented by Manuel Ruiz. The Chinese Hospital Association and CIFTIS partnered on the event.
The program was structured around three expert-led round tables, each addressing a distinct frontier in healthcare policy and innovation. The first, "Prevention and Early Intervention," examined how early-stage action can build the foundation for lifelong health and well-being. The second, "Rare Diseases," focused on the path from scientific and clinical innovation to concrete, equitable patient access. The third, "Healthy Longevity," addressed the systems needed to support women's health and early-life care as pillars of long-term population health.
Across these sessions, participants exchanged perspectives on regulatory frameworks, clinical practice, and innovation pathways, reinforcing the forum's function as a working platform rather than a purely ceremonial gathering. The discussions are expected to inform deeper strategic cooperation between French and Chinese healthcare stakeholders in the months ahead, with a shared aim of improving healthcare outcomes on both sides.
