COVID 19 - WEBINAR REPORT Return on experience from China

The 2nd April, 2020, ‘JUMO Partner’ in cooperation with ‘French healthcare alliance in China’ and ‘MEDICEN Paris region’ have co - organized a webinar, to share the experiences of some local French healthcare actors in China about their useful practices facing the Covid- 19 crisis.

  1. How to communicate ?
  2. How to manage the treasury ?
  3. how to continue to innovate ?

In total, 58 members have participated to this webinar. The objective was to share these return on experiences from China, to help the healthcare companies in France to better overcome this crisis at a company level. Mr. Jerome Viallard from IPSEN (China), Mr. Fabrice Halm from Proteor (China) and Mr. Benoit Colinot from Business France (China) shared their perspectives . Some of the learning - exchanges are:

  1. COMMUNICATION: Innovation on internal communication

Organize daily calls for the full team.
Establishment of an internal radio, 3 slots per day with topics for the whole company (news employees have their say / experience roadshow). This will keep the link, and report sick people daily. Take digital coffee breaks, allows you to continue creating the link.

Flexibility about company daily work:

  • Do not question the action plan for 2020. Do not give up projects.
  • Opportunity to do substantive work and things that they do not have time to do in normal times and organizing training with hospitals. (also organized some digital congresses

  1. FINANCES:

During Chinese New Year, China is used to a slowdown of activity. So the impact was easier to digest regarding cash flow. SMEs are concerned by May and June regarding a potential International Cash Crisis. Ask the team to be more flexible  regarding time. For example obligation to take leave: Ask employees to take 5 days leave now; then have them work at the weekend later in the year.

Regular cash flow forecast increase: do it weekly instead of monthly. Search for solutions to delay payment and collect money faster. Also look for special policies: China policy allows to free employer social charges and may provide some financial supports.

  1. INNOVATION:

The Chinese health system may change after the Covid-19 crisis, it is suggested to better prepare the ‘back to work’ moment, prioritize different received information to plan it. The changes can also be considered as opportunities. A strong raise of the internet hospital, this may lead to the evolution of the health market:

  • Digital pharmacy on raise. (as well as remote diagnostic, and distribution)
  • Put in place the remote monitoring of patients.
  • Medical checks to be made remotely.
  • Education and training by e - medical congresses.
